OPEN TOP BUS TOUR OF UTTOXETER

Uttoxeter Town Council, together with Uttoxeter’s Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist Adam Peaty and his parents, Mark and Caroline Peaty, are delighted to announce the open top bus tour of Uttoxeter shall take place on Saturday, 1 October 2016 for Adam and his family to share his celebrations with the residents of Uttoxeter.
Everyone is invited to line the streets waving their flags and hang their bunting in celebration to commemorate the wonderful achievements of Uttoxeter’s Gold and Silver Medallist Adam Peaty at the Olympic Games in Rio.
The open top bus tour shall commence at 11.00am on Saturday, 1 October 2016 from Adam’s home in Byrds Lane, Uttoxeter and the procession shall be as follows:
The Tour shall proceed up Byrds Lane; left into Bramshall Road (via Eversley Rest Home).
The tour shall proceed along Bramshall Road, left into Holly Road, left into Hawthornden Avenue and proceed right into Chestnut Drive. At the junction the tour shall proceed left into Byrds Lane and immediate right into Bentley Road and shall continue along Bentley Road.
At the junction, the tour shall proceed right into New Road and proceed third right into Holly Road (via St Mary’s Mount Residential Home). The tour shall continue along Holly Road (via The Hermitage Residential Home).
The bus shall reverse into The Hornbeams for a brief pause. The tour continues right into Holly Road. At the junction, the tour shall proceed left into Stone Road past Oldfields Hall Middle School.
The tour shall take second left into Springfield Road via St Joseph’s Primary School and continue into Heathfield Road, continuing into Short Street. Â At the mini roundabout, the tour shall proceed left into Smithfield Road and proceed right into the High Street.
It is anticipated that Adam, his Family and his Guests shall arrive into High Street at approximately 11.30am-11.45am (times subject to change), disembark transport and walk down the High Street to the Town Hall.
Outside the Town Hall, The Town Mayor of Uttoxeter, Councillor Alan Noyes shall present Uttoxeter’s Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist Adam Peaty with the leather bound ‘Book of Pride’ from the very proud residents of Uttoxeter and its surrounding areas. Adam, his Family and his Guests shall then proceed into the Town Hall for brief refreshments.
Adam, his Family and his Guests shall proceed on foot down the High Street to return to the open top bus for the continuation of the tour of Uttoxeter.
The tour shall resume into Market Place/Market Street and proceed into Balance Street (via Kirk House Residential Home).
At the junction, the bus shall proceed right into Carter Street and continue into Market Place via the War Memorial. At the junction, the tour shall proceed left into Church Street and continue into Dove Bank.
The tour shall, at the roundabout, take the first exit and proceed around The Bull roundabout, taking the fourth exit back towards the Town.
The tour shall proceed to the roundabout, taking the second exit and proceed into Town Meadows Way and to Tesco Stores for a tour around the carpark boundary. The tour shall proceed back into Town Meadows Way.
At the roundabout, the tour shall take second exit over Bamfords Bridge to the roundabout, taking first exit; at the mini roundabout, take third exit into Highwood Road. The tour shall take first right into Woodleighton Road and proceed along Kingfisher Way, into Westlands Road.
At the junction, the tour shall proceed right into Stafford Road to the roundabout, taking the first exit into Hockley Road. The tour shall proceed left into Stone Road and proceed past Uttoxeter Leisure Centre. At the junction, the tour shall proceed right into Smithfield Road past the bungalows and continue over the mini roundabout.
The tour shall proceed left into High Street and continue to the Wharf roundabout. Proceed right into Park Place and continue along Park Street/Park Avenue. At the junction, proceed left into Ashbourne Road.
At the mini roundabout, the tour shall proceed taking the first exit into Cheadle Road via Cheeky Monkeys and the Community Fire Station. The tour shall proceed right into Heath Road and continue along Cross Road. At the junction the tour shall proceed left into Holly Road and right into Byrds Lane. The tour shall return to Uttoxeter’s Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist Adam Peaty’s home.
Kind assistance is urged from local residents of the streets included within the tour, to enable the bus safe and easy access throughout the streets, we request that on street parking is kept to a minimum during the tour. Letters have been issued to residents within Byrds Lane (adjacent to Adam’s home), Hawthornden Avenue, Westlands Road, Park Place and The Hornbeams requesting parking be kept to a minimum throughout the tour.Â
