Uttoxeter Town Council

Himalayan Balsam Pull Saturday, 13th June 2020

On Saturday a number of Town Councillors supported a Friends of Bramshall Park planned working party to remove Himalayan Balsam from the Picknalls Brook. Permissions were given from ESBC and working at a distance volunteers were COVID safe. Councillor Mark Crutchley, Deputy Mayor Councillor Carolyn Green, Councillor Chris Sylvester, Councillor Alison Trenery and Lawrence Oates From Burton Conservation Volunteers kindly donated their time.

*Himalayan Balsam is an invasive plant and whilst pretty would take over the area by the Brook. Each seed head can cascade up to 500 seeds and these then get into the brook higher up stream and eventually settle on the banks to grow. *
