Dr Johnson Celebrations 2017

On Monday, 25 September 2017, Civic leaders and residents of Uttoxeter joined together for the annual commemoration of Dr Samuel Johnson. The President of the Johnson Society, Michael Bundock, gave an excellent speech about Dr Johnson’s life. The Mayor of Uttoxeter, Councillor Alison Trenery, hungÂÂ the wreath, as Town Crier Ken Knowles read a poem about Dr Johnson’s famous act of penance.
Guests were then invited back to the Town Hall, for a tot of rum and wakes cakes.
